Building your own business, going to work, doing your best to maintain some sort of social life, staying fit and taking care of your health. Keeping all of this in harmony without reaching the limits of a mental breakdown can sometimes be quite difficult. That’s why it’s important to take care of your life not only from the outside, but also from the inside. Mental health is just as important as physical health.

Creating healthy habits to boost your mental health can lead to increased productivity, concentration, and positive emotions. Here are my 5 healthy habits to help you boost your mental health!

1. MAKE SLEEP A PRIORITY

Sleep is perhaps the best thing you can do for your mental health. It allows your body and mind and also has the ability to affect your mood. Make sure that you have an established sleep schedule and stick to it.

2. SPEND TIME WITH FRIENDS AND FAMILY

Spending time with friends and family can be a valuable way to improve your mental health in a number of ways. When you spend time with friends and family, you feel connected to a larger network of people who care about you. This can help to reduce feelings of loneliness and isolation, which can have a negative impact on mental health. It also gives you the opportunity to receive support and encouragement from people who care about you.

3. INCORPORATE PHYSICAL ACTIVITY INTO YOUR DAILY ROUTINE

I know it sounds cliché, but the saying ‘healthy body, healthy mind’ is absolutely true! You don’t need to enter a marathon. Start by getting outside and moving around, even if it’s only for 10 minutes a day. Just a small amount of exercise and fresh air can have a huge impact.

4. SPEND TIME OUTSIDE

Being in nature can help to reduce feelings of stress and anxiety by providing a sense of calm and tranquility. It can boost your mood by exposing you to natural light and improve concentration and creativity by providing a change of scenery and a break from the distractions of daily life.

5. LIMIT MEDIA AND TECHNOLOGY USE

Spending too much time on social media can have negative effects on your mental health. It can increase feelings of anxiety, depression, and FOMO. Try reducing your amount of technology use and media consumption on a daily basis. Seeing other people’s highlights on social media can lead to comparing your life to theirs and feeling like you’re not good enough. Limiting your social media use can help reduce these comparisons. But it’s important to find a balance with social media and not completely cut it out of your life.

Sustainable and eco-friendly homes are an important way to reduce our impact on the environment and protect natural resources. By making conscious choices about how we use energy, water, and materials in our homes, we can minimize our carbon footprint and reduce pollution. Additionally, living in a sustainable and eco-friendly home can provide health benefits by reducing exposure to harmful chemicals and pollutants.

Nowadays, the topic of sustainability is a bit tricky in that a lot of people feel that you either have to do everything 100% or it doesn’t make sense at all. I’m of the opinion that every little step counts. And the more we talk about it, the better. Because it’s not easy to change all your habits overnight. But there are simple things that we can all incorporate into our lives and homes without a problem, and then just add more and more.

So how to achieve a more sustainable and eco-friendly home?
1. SAVE ENERGY

When you’re cold, (get) dressed! A tip that’s so simple, you may be tapping your forehead. But even a little thing like an extra layer instead of a heater can save you a lot of energy.

Replace regular light bulbs with LED bulbs. They’re up to 85% more energy efficient. Plus, they last up to 20 times longer, so you don’t have to change them as often. I’ve even gotten ones for my home that change the color and intensity of the light using a controller or special app.

When you leave the room, turn off the lights. You might be surprised how much energy this step saves you, while costing you almost no effort.

2. SAVE WATER

This step is also quite simple. Take a quick shower instead of a bath, turn off the tap when brushing your teeth, collect rainwater in a barrel to water your plants, and only turn on the washing machine and dishwasher when it’s completely full. These are just a few little things that you can adjust a little in your daily life, but which also make a big difference.

3. DO NOT WASTE FOOD

We all know that a lot of ingredients are wasted when they are grown or in supermarkets. Reducing the amount of waste you produce is therefore one of the key ways to lead a sustainable life. Next time you go to the shops, try to plan your menu a little so you don’t buy too much and really only buy what you can eat. It’s also important to finish off leftovers and limit the amount of food you’d be throwing away unnecessarily.

4. RECYCLE

Create a recycling space at home. Bins for at least paper, plastic and glass. Do some research on recycling so you do it right and you’ll see that it will come naturally in a few days!

5. LIMIT SINGLE-USE PRODUCTS

If something breaks at home, fix it, if you don’t want something, send it on. If the item no longer makes you happy, maybe it would make someone else happy. Also use your own water bottles, or carry your own mug if you’re used to buying coffee every morning on your way to work. You’ll eliminate a lot of disposable cups, and nowadays, most coffee shops even offer various discounts for coffee you take away in your own cup. Similarly, if you go shopping, carry your own bags. They take up almost no space in your purse and save not only the plastic bag, but also money on each new bag.

By implementing these simple steps, you can make your home and life more sustainable and eco-friendly, while also reducing your carbon footprint and protecting the environment.
